CasaSur Bellini Hotel Buenos Aires Review

Our Verdict: Located in a lovely neighbourhood, slightly weary hotel

Visiting Buenos Aires for the first time meant choosing our hotel with a bit more care. We wanted somewhere safe, walkable, lively and with a decent pool, and quickly realised most five star options were wildly overpriced in December. Palermo kept coming up as the neighbourhood to explore, so we narrowed the search and found CasaSur Bellini Buenos Aires. Reviews online were mixed, so if you want our honest take, read on.

Location

CasaSur Bellini Buenos Aires sits in one of the most affluent areas of the city and you feel that from the moment you step outside. The landscaping is well manicured and you have cafes, bars, restaurants and even a convenience store on the same block. Walk 10 minutes and you reach Palermo Soho with its boutiques and coffee shops. Keep going and you hit Palermo Hollywood, where the nightlife carries on long after you have gone to bed.

The red and yellow city tour buses also run along Av. de Libertador, just a five minute walk from the hotel, giving you easy hop on and off access to the major tourist spots.

The real standout is Parque Tres de Febrero, a sprawling green space with lakes, cycling paths and a Japanese garden. If you are a runner, this is an excellent base.

Check-in

We arrived at CasaSur Bellini Buenos Aires at around 5 am in the morning, which is the sort of hour that should be illegal unless you are catching a flight or returning from a night that got out of hand. Thankfully the hotel staff made the process painless. A scan of the passports, a polite smile and we were waved off to our rooms with minimal fuss.

Room

Our room at CasaSur Bellini Buenos Aires was functional, however, it’s clearly not designed with longer stays in mind. The small balcony looked over the pool and, more interestingly, a series of offices, apartments and a beauty clinic. The net curtains became our new best friends for additional privacy.

The tiled bathroom hinted that maintenance had been on its to do list for a while. The bed was comfortable the air conditioning, however, lived directly above the bed so the temperature swung between tropical warmth and Antarctic breeze depending on whether it was on or off. There was also an uncessary partition between the dining area and the bed that did little other than get in the way.

There is a decent selection in the mini bar from wine to little snacks, although the prices remind you that convenience comes at a cost. The standout was the Nespresso pod at three dollars each, which felt steep even by hotel standards.

Less premium was the noise. Doors in the corridors from neighbours have a habit of slamming with gusto and the sound proofing could be much better, so light sleepers may want to pack earplugs just in case.

Facilities & Services

The facilities at CasaSur Bellini Buenos Aires are simple but pleasant. The outdoor pool is a little oasis, shared with apartments. It is shallow and not heated, and although enclosed with buildings on every side, it gets quite a bit of sun from about 10 am. The gym is part of the apartment block, perfect for offsetting all the empanadas you will inevitably consume.

The concierge kept a handy stash of branded umbrellas for Buenos Aires unpredictable weather, which proved useful as we had one day of heavy rain.

Bars & Dining

Breakfast

Breakfast is served in Roa Bar and is modest. The room itself is small and dark, and the overall experience left a lot to be desired, particularly with a leaking air conditioning unit positioned over the buffet.

The selection includes fruit, pastries and eggs, although the cooked egg policy was confusing. On the first morning we were asked to sign a slip for eggs, on subsequent days we were not. At check out we were asked to pay for the eggs from day one, despite breakfast being included. We declined and the charge was removed without issue.

If you can secure a good room only rate, we would recommend it. Palermo is full of excellent breakfast spots, including a very good café next door.

Check-out

Checkout at CasaSur Bellini Buenos Aires was friendly and brisk. There was no real curiosity about our stay, but they did remove the additional egg charges once queried. The invoice arrived as a single line item, which made checking the details a bit of a guessing game, but at least it was quick.

BG1 Verdict

CasaSur Bellini Buenos Aires is a fair option, with the location and pool doing most of the heavy lifting. It has quirks and clearly needs some maintenance attention, better sound proofing, but it remains comfortable. For a short midweek stay in the city, it does the job, and we would say the mixed reviews online felt fair and aligned with our experience.
