Deal: Europe to Hawaii Business Class £1795

We’ve been seeing a few good ex-EU business class deals on Oneworld. One that caught our eye is 3-sector trip to Hawaii in business class from Europe that will bag you 640 tier points in one go! The ticket works out at under £38 per flying hour, which is well under our target business class price for a 4-star carrier.

The flight starts with a short-haul BA flight to London Heathrow. From there, you connect with a BA flight across the Atlantic to Seattle. After a short layover, there’s a near 6-hour flight over the Pacific to Honolulu with Alaska Airlines.

Return prices in business class from Amsterdam

  • Honolulu (Hawaii) – £1795

The Catch

If Amsterdam isn’t your home town, you’ll need to pay for the flights to position yourself there to begin your journey. If you live in the London area, you can’t just skip the Amsterdam to London sector as this will invalidate the whole trip. The flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu is on a single aisle A320neo aircraft with domestic business class seats. These seats will have a decent recline, but there’s no flat bed or suite for the 5.5 hour flight.

The ticket isn’t very flexible – no refunds and changes cost €250. It’s sold by British Airways and should be covered by their Book with Confidence COVID guarantee.

Where to credit the Points?

As this is a deal on Oneworld carriers, we’d credit to a Oneworld airline. Ours points would go to our BA Executive Club account, although Alaska, Iberia or American Airlines are alternatives to consider.

BG1 Verdict

This one’s a buy. Yes, it’s 22+ hours with 2 layovers in each direction, but it’s also 640 BA tier points – over 700 if you fly business to Amsterdam. Club Suite is rolling out across BA’s Heathrow fleet throughout 2022. There’s a good chance of getting an aircraft fitted with Club Suite seats on the transatlantic leg of this trip, especially for bookings made in the second half of the year. We’re very tempted by £1795 to Hawaii in business class.

BG1 Tip

Check your seat assignments as soon as you’ve booked. Your Seattle flight may already have been designated with Club Suite. Also be sure to select good seats on the A320 aircraft between Seattle and Honolulu.
