Our Verdict: A stylish stay with character in the middle of Covent Garden, London
NoMad London – part of the Hilton chain – nestled opposite the Royal Opera House and behind Covent Garden, is a conveniently located hotel in the heart of the West End. Nominated as one of the World’s 50 Best Hotels for its bold design, impeccable service, and rich history, it’s a standout stay. Set inside a beautiful ex-Magistrates’ Court and Police Station, the dark, sultry hallways and stylish décor create a rich, moody aesthetic that feels undeniably luxurious.
We stayed for a night while working in the city, and we’re glad we got to try this hotel. But with its premium price tag, would we return? We’ve stayed in multiple hotels in the area, and this one feels like a level up in terms of luxury.

Location
NoMad London’s location is unbeatable if you want to be right in the heart of Covent Garden. Leicester Square station is just minutes away, and the lively Seven Dials area is on your doorstep. Staying at NoMad London means you’re surrounded by West End theatres, boutique shops, and lively dining spots. The Royal Opera House is moments away, and Oxford Street is within easy reach via public transport. Whether you’re here for shopping, shows, or sightseeing, NoMad London is brilliantly placed to keep you close to the action.
Check-in
As you approach the main entrance, the grand façade makes quite the impression. Once inside, a porter greeted me and directed me to the check-in desk.
Check-in was smooth, and before I could even perfect my ‘I’m-important’ face, they upgraded my room from a Classic to a Superieur room, honouring my Hilton Diamond status. Result! The staff were friendly and chatty without overdoing. A balance that’s surprisingly hard to find.
Room
This was a highlight for me. The room was beautifully decorated with understated luxury, it was part vintage showroom, part Bond villain’s lair, and somehow, it works. The bed was very comfortable. Think vintage accents, plush fabrics, and curated artwork that felt thoughtful rather than just “Instagrammable.” NoMad London nails that blend of classic elegance and contemporary comfort.
Facilities & Services
It’s hard to expect sprawling facilities like pools or outdoor spaces in central London, and NoMad London is no exception.
The small gym is compact but smartly designed with modern equipment that does the job. Although there’s no Executive Lounge, the hotel makes up for it with its distinctive social spaces.
The former courtroom has been transformed into a striking event space. It’s a nod to the building’s rich history. The library, exclusive to hotel guests, is a peaceful hideaway filled with rare books and curated design pieces, ideal for some quiet downtime or catching up on work. While the hotel’s focus is more on stylish rooms and intimate service rather than expansive facilities, these unique spaces add charm and character that you won’t find in most city hotels.
Bars & Dining
We didn’t dine in the restaurant, but we did enjoy a relaxing evening in the bar. The sommelier recommended a fantastic wine that hit the spot, and the vibe was calm and inviting.
The bar itself feels like a hidden gem. It blends British pub vibes with a Latin American twist. It’s a fantastic spot for a laid-back drink without the noise and chaos of Covent Garden’s busier pubs.
Breakfast
I had an early meeting at 7am, and sadly breakfast wasn’t available that early, as it’s served from 7:00 am to 10:30 am daily. I survived on sheer determination and in-room coffee, but for a 5-star hotel, I’d have expected a takeaway option. Maybe I should have asked, but it felt like an odd gap for a hotel that otherwise ticks so many boxes.
Check-out
Check-out was smooth and quick through the Hilton app. The Concierge offered to arrange a taxi, but since I was only walking 10 minutes to my meeting, I politely declined. Still, it was a thoughtful gesture, and the friendly porters made me feel welcome both coming and going. I’d happily return if I find a good deal.
BG1 Verdict
A stylish and luxurious London stay with bags of character. If you’re after a memorable night in Covent Garden, NoMad London is a solid choice. Just don’t bank on an early breakfast and lots of facilities.
