British Airways Black Friday Sale

The end of thanksgiving signals the start of the Black Friday sale. British Airways has launched their Black Friday sale with lots of different offers from flight discounts, city deals, upgrades and holidays.

With such uncertainty on travel, many airlines have introduced “booking with confidence” initiatives to entice passengers to part with their money on the proviso that things may change.

So with this in mind, it may be a good time to look out for deals for the end of 2021. Check out our blog on the 10 things to consider before booking a deal right now.

What deals can you get?

20% off all flights

British Airways today launched their Black Friday sale. It is offering 20% off flights using the code BFOffer, if you book by 28 November. This offer is open to all Executive Club Members.

You must book before 28 November for travel starting 3 December 2020 to 28 November 2021.

Savings on holidays

As well as discounts on flights, savings are available across both short and long-haul holidays.

Save up to £100 on holidays

  • Save up to £100 on holidays if you buy a holiday package with a total cost of £2500 per booking, save £50 if you spend £1,500
  • You must travel by 31 October 2021
  • Discounts will be available across all British Airways Holidays bookings made before midnight on Saturday 28 November 2020. That’s flight + hotel and flight + car holidays in every destination for travel through until mid-November 2021.

City breaks from £99 per person

  • There are a range of two-night city breaks to Europe for just £99 including hotels to destinations such as Barcelona, Bilbao, Warsaw, Budapest and Prague. A number of European hotels, including Mr & Mrs Smith properties, are offering 50% off their hotel prices over the course of Black Friday, when booked with British Airways Holidays. The £99 city break deals are extremely limited and you’ll have to travel before the end of January

With the current advice and confusion around the travel corridor, even if you can book one of these limited deals, it may not be a good time to go! Most countries across Europe remain in some sort of restriction, and you’re likely going to have to quarantine for 14 days when you return.

If you plan to travel further, there are offers to Caribbean and Cancun, including up to £200 off all-inclusive holidays in select hotels.

Upgrade to Premium Economy

As part of the Black Friday sale is that you can upgrade from Economy Premium Economy for £200 return per person, when you make a flight and hotel booking during this period to USA destinations only. To take advantage of the offer, holiday packages must be booked by 1 December 2020.

Further details are available on British Airways Black Friday page.

BG1 Verdict – is it worth booking?

Well, it really depends on what you intend to book and which deal you plan to use.

On the 20% off flights, you must complete your travel by 17 November 2021, so if you’re planning on travelling next year, it may be a good opportunity to pick up a good deal. However, just be prepared for any of your plans to change, with all the changes due to the global pandemic, it’s important to ensure you’re OK to remain flexible.

The city breaks deals are a little bit restrictive as you have to travel by the end of January, country restrictions will still apply. So prepare for quarantine, COVID-19 tests and lockdown.

Upgrading from Economy to Premium Economy for £200 could be worth it, if you bagged yourself a cheap Economy seat and plan to travel to the USA anyway.

Do your research before booking and understand the rules and small print before making your booking. With the Global coronavirus pandemic looking like it’s going to sustain into 2020, anything can happen, so just prepare to be flexible.
