Was impressed by this slice of paradise where rugged cliffs meet turquoise waters, and every wave whispers a secret. This cove with white sandy beaches is perfect for a serene escape. It was a steep climb in but totally worth it. Who knew such breathtaking beauty existed right here in the UK? The bright ☀️ ☀️ added to the beauty.

Traveled from LHR via JFK to GRU this week, on Virgin Atlantic and Delta.

Overall, it was another pretty disappointing Virgin flight. Other than the superficial glitz of the clubhouse and the crew, there’s not a lot of substance to the Virgin business class product. Perhaps tacky is the best way to describe it these days? The old seats are uncomfortable and lack the privacy levels that have become standard for business class fares. It wouldn’t surprise me if this years-long decline will eventual result in them being fully-absorbed into Delta.

We’ve been on three Virgin Upper Class flights over the last year and it disappoints every time. What’s your experience? @virginatlantic @delta

Here are a few 📸 of the Malaysia Airlines domestic Business Class from KUL to SDK. It’s ~2 hrs 30 mins with 12 seats in the cabin.

The service was great on this flight with very friendly and smiley cabin crew. We would definitely fly the domestic Business Class product again.

Unlike the European short haul business class seats (e.g. BA Club Europe) the seats were spacious and comfortable. In fact, it was more comfortable than the Qatar Airways 787 new business class seats that we just got off from before jumping onto this flight!
Food was OK too!

Mixed reviews of the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu. 🌴☀️ Our Horizon suite is spacious, and offered stunning views of the beach. The Horizon lounge was a perfect spot for breakfast away from the really busy main breakfast buffet.

Also disappointed with the lack of shaded deck-chairs under umbrellas when it’s busy. It was so busy here on Saturday that we couldn’t find a space under an umbrella and the staff had the attitude of “oh well, not our problem, go find a spot under a tree”. Even the shaded spots under the tree were full. They had no smaller parasols for guests. They should have a stack of flexible parasols to help with this scorching equatorial heat. 🏖️

So far, we’d say the service is just OK… having stayed in Shangrila-La’s around the world, this is mediocre by comparison. Hoping things will improve and service will get better before we leave.

The Qatar Airways Lounge at London LHR Heathrow Terminal 4 is a beautifully designed space equipped with a bar, self-serve and a la carte dining areas. It’s a nice luxurious lounge but was busy when we visited.

There were two flights departing from LHR to DOH around the same time which meant the lounge was busy. There was a good drinks selection and wines on offer. But as our flight was at 8am it was a bit early to sample all the wines 😝 Have you been?

Palm Springs is a pretty little town, with its gre

Palm Springs is a pretty little town, with its great restaurants and surroundings, we’re already planning on coming back. But we’re not going to be staying at the Hilton Palm Springs again.

Our hotel room was very tired and in a need of an update. The front desk staff were surly bridging on rude. They did let down the rest of the service staff, who were amazing. The supposed benefits of having Hilton Honors Status don’t mean much at this hotel either.

If you are staying, here’s a top tip, don’t pay for the $30 daily parking charge. We saved ourselves $120 by parking on E Andreas Road or N Calle Encillia during our stay.

The breakfast was delicious here though. And the pool area was pretty cool. Loved the two hot tubs. The best thing about the property is the location. It’s a short walk from restaurants, bars and shops.

A few snaps from our recent stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s a large resort with multiple pools, conference centre, and wings. The shared balcony with the room next door felt a bit odd. There’s no feeling of privacy. For a large hotel it also didn’t feel particularly tranquil. The adults only pool was super busy, and with the music it felt like a pool club in Vegas. For the price… we think there are definitely better options.

The bed was comfortable and bedroom well appointed, but the cheap iron, hairdryer and lack of a full length mirror, meant that it’s missing the sophistication it’s trying to achieve.

One of the benefits of being a Hilton Honors Diamond Member are upgrades based on availability. We were told categorically that there were no upgrades as the hotel is full. “No upgrades” is what we’re greeted with in nearly all Hilton properties. So we’ve learnt to check availability before arriving. I mentioned politely “that’s strange, seems like there’s still lots of rooms available online to book. He then changed his tone and said “Oh ok, let me check again… oh yes, we can upgrade you after all”. The room we got wasn’t that much different from what we booked, but it’s the principle of it… don’t offer it as a benefit if you’re not prepared to offer it to your guest.

This is why we stay away from Wizz Air. They always optimise for cost over time & passenger comfort. It clearly takes longer to attach two separate sets of steps to the aircraft, takes longer to board this way and requires passengers to walk down steps to the tarmac, only to climb back up to the aircraft. Bizarrely, this is cheaper than using the available air bridge.
