British Airways has launched a Europe Flash Sale for bookings before the 23 July. The flash sale, is no doubt, one of the airline’s strategies to encourage people to travel in a post-COVID lockdown. Now that countries are opening up to UK travellers, and the rules are relaxing for self-quarantine requirements, more people are considering summer vacations in Europe. To encourage people to book, British Airways is guaranteeing that any hotels booked with British Airways holidays meet the safety standard and are ATOL protected. The airline’s “Book with Confidence” scheme is still active to give you flexibility with your booking.

How To Book
Book on the British Airways website. Booking by telephone will automatically incur a £10 charge to your booking.
Lounge Access As Part Of The Sale?
Interestingly, the airline has also tried to sweeten the deal by offering free lounge access on selected holiday bookings. You need to spend over £1,000 or more per person on a holiday to travel between 1 August – 30 September. Everyone on your booking can use the pre-departure lounge. Unless you’re already planning on spending £1,000 with British Airways in Economy, we don’t think this represents a draw and shouldn’t be the reason you book! For £1,000 you should really be thinking about stretching a few hundred pounds more to fly in Business Class, which gives you access to the lounge anyway. You also have the comfort of a lie-flat bed! Check out our analysis of how much you should pay for business class seats.
BG1 Verdict
If you feel confident about travelling at the moment, the British Airways Europe Flash Sale is pretty decent. Whether you book or not, is definitely down to your own individual comfort level with flying and travelling at the moment. We are still in the midst of a Global pandemic.
It’s also important to highlight that these prices are available for a 7-day trip, so we would only recommend booking if you’re planning on a week’s holiday. Before you book and travel, be sure to check what the rules are for the country you’re intending to visit. You’ll need to check if self-quarantine is a requirement or if your insurance is valid. We’ve summarised whether you need to quarantine in a separate blog.
Also, the rules of whether you should wear face masks are different across Europe, so be sure to do your research as failing to comply could mean you’re issued with a fine.
Let us know if you book any of these deals – it would be great to hear from you!
