As frequent flyers, on a short hop to Europe or exploring the far East and West of the Globe, we’re always in search of a bargain to travel in style! The joy of travelling should start from getting to the airport, and we got hooked on the trappings of business class travel and everything that comes with it; lounges, lie-flat beds, food & wine, and free-flowing champagne! We’ve come to realise that traveling in style doesn’t have to break the bank.

Neither of us are millionaires and we’re continually looking to achieve our flying dreams by spending as little cash as we can. Be it a seat sale or miles redemption for reward flights, we tend to let our wallets tell us where we’re going next rather than having a fixed agenda...

So, if you’re looking for flight & accommodation reviews, flight deals, and budget luxury travel tips & tricks then you have come to the right place. Welcome to BoardingGroup. One

BA 747 at Heathrow

British Airways has launched a Luxury Sale to long-haul and short-haul destinations around the world. The prices in Business Class start from £1,300 with the “best” offers from London to the Caribbean and North America. For example, flights from London Heathrow to Antigua start from £1,400 and Boston from £1,395.

Compared to other sales we’ve seen, we don’t think that British Airways Luxury Sale is anything to scream about. Unlike the Swiss Air sale that was launched recently, where business class flights from London to Hong Kong were available for £1,050, the British Airways Luxury sale is commanding prices from £2,178.

For Executive Club Members, you can also use your Avios to reduce these prices even further, with Avios part payment. The sale also allows you to upgrade your flight into First Class from £399. It doesn’t look like the upgrade offer applies to Club World flights you have already booked.

To help you navigate whether it’s a good deal or not, please read our “How much should you pay for a business class seat?”

We have outlined the details of the sale below, as well as the associated terms and conditions.

The Catch

For a 4* airline, we don’t think the sale represents great value for money. It’s OK and if you’re looking to get to your destinations from London without stopping then this could be the offer for you.

An example of the prices to fly from London to Antigua return. No availability until August 2020.

Where to credit the Points?

We’d favour British Airways Executive Club for these points.

BG1 Verdict

Unless you really need or want to travel directly to your destination, we would recommend looking at other flight offers.

To us, it doesn’t represent good value for money. As an example, the best price we found from London to Antigua is £1,400. Using our “How much should you pay for a business class seat?” An 8.5-hour journey (representing 17 hours of flying return) = £82 per flying hour and for a 4* airline we think this is expensive!
