At a time when bargain fares seem hard to come by, Oman Air are marketing an extremely attractive business class fare from Europe to Perth, Australia for under £2000. Given the flying hours involved and the quality of Oman’s business class product, we suggest you read on…
Destinations
Return prices in business class from Milan (MXP):
- Perth (£1950)
- Sydney (£2500)
- Adelaide (£2750)
- Melbourne (£2450)
The Catch
It’s an ex-EU itinerary, so you’ll first need to get yourself to Milan Malpensa airport to begin the journey. There are 3 sectors each way. You’ll connect with onward flights in Muscat and then Kuala Lumpur. The flight between KL and your Australian city will be operated either by Malindo Air or Malaysia Airlines under a codeshare arrangement. The fare includes options to stopover in Muscat or KL for free, or both for $50 USD extra.
We cover Kuala Lumpur in our July destination guides.

How to Book
Use Google Flights calendar feature to find the cheap travel dates. Handily, you can then complete the booking directly through Google (read more about how that works here). If you want the absolute lowest price, we found the same itinerary on ITA Matrix for £1,950. You will need to contact a travel agent to book prices found on ITA Matrix – we’ve found Amex’s travel booking service has been good at finding these prices for us. If you want to break your journey with stopovers, it’s usually best to work through a travel agent.
If you’d rather not speak to a person and just want to do it yourself, Google Flights is the next best option.
Where to credit the Points?
Oman Air will be joining Oneworld some time in 2024. We might consider opening a Sinbad frequent flyer account and then using the points for a Oneworld redemption next year.
BG1 Verdict
Oman Air officially has a 4-star Skytrax rating. The 787 business seat and in-flight service are considered to be better than other 4-star carriers. It’s sometimes compared to Qatar Airways.
Oman Air business class seats from Europe to Australia for under £2500 return with 4 and 5 star airlines will always get a BUY recommendation from us.
