Hilton Pattaya Thailand

Our Verdict: A sky-high Hilton retreat above the Pattaya seafront hustle

We chose Hilton Pattaya Thailand as a warm-weather escape from the UK winter, and it delivered exactly what we were after. Perched atop the CentralFestival shopping mall from the 16th floor upwards, this 34-storey property opened in 2010 and was one of the first Hilton-branded properties in central Pattaya. With 302 rooms and suites, interiors by Bangkok-based BLINK Design Group, and a sky lobby concept that was novel in Thailand at the time, it promised something a cut above the usual Pattaya fare. We were not disappointed.

Location

Hilton Pattaya Thailand sits right on the main seafront of Beach Road, directly facing the 4 km crescent of Pattaya Beach and the Gulf of Thailand. It’s a prime central position, and the fact that CentralFestival Pattaya Beach – one of the largest shopping centres in eastern Thailand – occupies the floors beneath the hotel is a practical bonus. Restaurants, retail, a cinema and a supermarket are all accessible without stepping outside. Handy when a tropical shower passes overhead!

Walking Street, Pattaya’s main entertainment strip, is roughly 1.5 km to the south. From upper floors we could see Koh Larn island about 7 km offshore. Getting here from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok takes around 1.5 to two hours, while U-Tapao Airport is closer at about 40 km south. Pattaya averages 28 to 32°C year-round, so it works as a warm escape in any month, though peak season runs November to February.

Check-in

We arrived at street level and took a dedicated lift up to the 16th-floor reception. The lobby itself is a sight to behold: futuristic, artistic and a real statement of intent. Unfortunately, we arrived at the same time as a tour bus, so check-in was a little chaotic and slower than it should have been. The silver lining came quickly though.

We’d booked the Premium Oceanfront Suite, but were upgraded to the Prestige Oceanfront Suite. This meant a larger room, a bigger balcony and a better position on the front of the building overlooking the sea. Hilton Honors Diamond members regularly report receiving suite upgrades here, so the property does appear to take loyalty recognition seriously. Once past the initial scrum, the process was smooth enough.

Our Room

Our suite sat on the 28th floor, and the views were expansive. Pattaya Beach stretched out below, the Gulf of Thailand beyond, and on a clear day the horizon felt endless. A full-length balcony ran across the front of the room, complete with an outdoor bathtub – a properly indulgent touch. The shape of the building is designed to maximise ocean views, and it works.

Inside, the king bed was super comfortable with plush bedding and pillows. Climate control worked well, and there was also a natural cooling breeze when the balcony door was open. We could lay there looking out to the sea.

Soundproofing was excellent throughout our Hilton Pattaya Thailand stay. We barely heard a soul, and doors closed softly across the building. The glass-walled shower, however, did feel strange. Showering in full view of the adjacent building took some getting used to. Overall, the room was a real retreat from the humdrum of street-level Pattaya.

Facilities & Services

The 16th-floor pool deck was where we spent a good chunk of our time. The infinity-edge pool is designed to merge visually with the ocean beyond, and the effect is striking. Cabanas and sun beds surround it, creating a proper oasis above the busy streets and beach below. Some guests have reported the pool being cold, but we found the temperature perfectly fine.

The gym is well equipped, air-conditioned and rarely crowded. We used it several times and it was consistently clean and well maintained. The eforea Spa is also on site, offering Thai massage and a range of treatments, though we didn’t use it on this visit.

Bars & Dining

The executive lounge on the 33rd floor was a standout. The host who ran the lounge did so with real pride, always addressing us by name whenever we visited. Evening drinks and canapés at sunset were a highlight – cocktails, wines, beers and a good spread of hot and cold bites. It’s the kind of consistent, personalised attention that makes loyalty recognition feel worthwhile.

Beyond the lounge, the 34th floor is home to Drift, the rooftop bar with 360-degree views across the Gulf of Thailand, and Horizon, the fine dining restaurant that features a glass-floored section. We stuck mostly to the lounge, but the rooftop options are there for those looking for something more formal.

Breakfast

We had the choice of breakfast in the executive lounge – a smaller, quieter affair – or in Edge, the main restaurant on the 15th floor at pool deck level. Edge was the winner for us. Floor-to-ceiling windows gave sweeping views across Pattaya Beach, with seating spread across multiple levels. The buffet was large, covering both Western and Asian options with live cooking stations.

Quality was generally very good, and there were plenty of staff on hand keeping things stocked and cleared. It’s a strong breakfast operation and comfortably one of the better hotel buffets we’ve had in Thailand.

Check-out

Standard check-out was at midday. The process was quick and painless, and the farewell was warm. Overall, no billing surprises and no fuss. Hilton Honors Diamond members can often negotiate late check-out here subject to availability, which is worth asking about if you have a later transfer.

Hilton Pattaya Thailand was a hit. We’ll be honest: Pattaya as a city wasn’t really our cup of tea. But this hotel rose above it, quite literally. From the 28th-floor suite to the 33rd-floor lounge, it felt like a separate world from the streets below. The recognition of our Hilton Honors status throughout – the upgrade, the lounge service, the personal touches – added real value. Nightly rates typically range from around £80 to £250 depending on room and season, which for what you get is very competitive against the Mövenpick, Amari or Dusit Thani in the same stretch. It’s best suited to couples or groups of friends looking for a quality base with strong facilities and a seafront position. With views as stunning as these, we’d happily return, even if Pattaya itself remains optional.
