Qatar Airways has taken business class travel to new heights with the unveiling of its QSuite “Next Gen” at the 2024 Farnborough Airshow. This latest version of their acclaimed business class seat includes several enhancements over the original QSuite, which already set high standards in the industry.
While the previous QSuite featured sliding doors and the ability to convert adjacent seats into a double bed, the QSuite Next Gen introduces larger seats and more advanced technology. The new seats are both longer and wider, providing increased comfort. The middle seats now offer a double bed that is 9 inches wider than before, ensuring a more spacious and comfortable rest.
Companion window seats
The QSuite Next Gen also enhances privacy and dining experiences with its improved Quad and Companion Suites. The Companion Suites allow window seat passengers to dine together by moving the TV screen that forms part of the divider. The Quad Suites, in the center, feature taller, digitally controlled dividers and increased space for a more private and comfortable dining experience.
QSuite Next Gen Technology
In terms of technology, the QSuite Next Gen boasts 22-inch 4K OLED in-flight entertainment screens, wireless charging, USB-C, USB-A, and 110v multi-country sockets. Bluetooth pairing with the entertainment system allows passengers to use their own headphones. Additionally, the introduction of Starlink Wi-Fi promises one of the fastest internet connections available in the sky. We can wait to try it, although we may have to brace ourselves for the price!
There are, however, still some areas that could be improved. The sliding doors, while providing privacy, can feel a bit confining for some passengers. Additionally, not all seats offer the same level of comfort and accessibility, particularly in terms of aisle access.
Overall, the QSuite Next Gen represents a significant upgrade over Qatar Airways’ existing business class offerings, providing unparalleled luxury and comfort. That being said, the seat will only be fitted to the new Boeing 777x aircraft, the first of which is yet to be delivered. This news dashed hopes of older cabins being retrofitted with the new suite. The variation of business product in the Qatar Airways fleet further widens with the QSuite Next Gen. For seasoned business travellers, this new suite is a game-changer, setting yet another new benchmark in the industry.
