On 1 May 2025, boardinggroup.one turns five. That’s five years of hunting down the best business class seats, sipping Bloody Marys in lounges like we actually belong there, and trying to act cool while photographing hotel room minibars. What started as a passion project for two travel-obsessed frequent flyers during the first lockdown has grown into a site trusted by tens of thousands of readers every month. And after half a decade in the skies (and on the ground), we’re just getting started.
So what have we been up to since launch?
Flights of Fancy (and Reviews to Match)
From cramped economy seats to first class suites with doors, we’ve reviewed cabins across all major alliances and a few obscure ones too. A few of your favourites:
- British Airways A380 Business Class, from London to Dallas – a flagship review of BA’s upper-deck Club World cabin, complete with lounge access and a side of jetlag.
- American Airlines A321 First Class, flying Phoenix to Los Angeles – because even short hops deserve the champagne treatment (or at least a decent gin and tonic).
- Qatar Airways A380 Business Class, from Doha to Perth – an iconic flying experience that has captured your fascination and has us still pining for another go!
- TAP Air Portugal A330neo Business Class, on the Lisbon to Sāo Paulo route – one of the most-read reviews on the site, giving honest insight into TAP’s sleek cabin and occasionally chaotic service.
- British Airways 747 First Class, from London to Vancouver – yes, we were struck by lightening on the climb out of Heathrow, but the Queen of the Skies carried us to Canada in exceptional comfort.
Lounges, Lounges, Lounges
We’ve scouted out airport lounges from Athens to Heathrow to Ibiza, sometimes arriving three hours early just for the snacks.
- The Concorde Room at Heathrow remains the gold standard of British Airways luxury. Think à la carte dining, private cabanas, and just the right amount of snobbery.
- TAP Premium Lounge Atlântico at Lisbon’s non-Schengen gates – small but quiet, with self-pour beer and a cocktail menu that (nearly) made up for the lack of natural light.
- Aegean Airlines Extra Schengen Lounge in Athens – a surprise favourite, thanks to fresh Greek food and a decent self-service bar, making it a clear step above the typical Star Alliance offering.
Dreaming of Destinations
Our “Where to Go Each Month” series became one of the site’s sleeper hits. Planning winter sun in January or a city break in September? These monthly guides simplify your choice, removing the usual hassle.
Travel Tips That Don’t Suck
Yes, we cover flight reviews. But we’re also big on cutting through the noise with practical, real-world advice:
- Confused by boarding group chaos? Our guide to airline boarding groups explains what each one means and how to beat the system (legally).
- During COVID’s peak, we kept travellers in the loop with timely updates on travel restrictions, helping readers dodge quarantines and wasted PCR tests.
We’ve come a long way in five years, but the mission hasn’t changed: honest, detailed reviews and no-nonsense travel advice with a wink of sarcasm and a splash of champagne. Whether you’ve followed us since day one or just stumbled in via a Google search for “best lounge in Lisbon,” we’re glad you’re here.
Here’s to the next five.
